The Multicultural Network’s mission can be summarized as follows:
To educate, promote and advocate involvement in tobacco prevention and related issues, collectively addressing ethnic and culturally competent perspectives.
Assistance provided by the Multicultural Network
Each of the coordinating agencies is able to provide you with sample tobacco education materials specific to the communities that they serve. Materials are also available in Arabic, Chinese and Spanish when contacting the corresponding agencies.
Each of the coordinating agencies is able to provide you with information related to tobacco use and its impact on the specific population that it serves.
The Multicultural Network is available to make presentations regarding Communities of Color and tobacco use, and cultural competency in tobacco control.
The Multicultural Network provides technical assistance and resources to individuals and organizations that want to become involved in tobacco-related issues.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Michigan Multicultural Network is comprised of six agencies that service African Americans, Arab/Chaldean Americans, Asian Americans, Latino/Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans. Funded by the Michigan Department of Community Health, this network aims to promote awareness about the risk of tobacco use and its impact on people of color.
